I've found out about a place off of Jewella Road called the Tank Farm. It was said to have a place where large oil tanks were stored and there was also a grain elevator where a boy fell down into it and never escaped. Any info?

Jonathon the tank farm was located were Cargil park is today. You could get to it from Jewella, and from 70th Street. Walker Road did not run through the area at the time. It was the old Standard Oil Tank farm. As a teenager in the mid to late 70's the tank farms were a place we would go hang out. As we did the old CCI, ( Pea Farm), Forbing Railroad Tracks, Wallace Lake dam and other places on this web site.

I put more info on the Tank Farm at the Old Ellerbe School posts. Go there to read what I posted. Cindy is right. We all would hang out there and the other placs she mentioned. Wallace Lake Dam was a big hang out. We would climb the concrete part of the dam by wedging our feet into the tiny groove in the cement. Cindy, who are you? Do we know each other? Westwood? Oak Terrace?

The story is that back in the '60s a young boy got locked up in the top of an old grain elevator that was once on the Tank Farm site which is now Cargill Park. He died of heat suffocation before they could get to him. They say if you walk down the railroad tracks from Jewella on Sunday evenings towards the airport until you cross Standard Oil Road you can hear him pounding and screaming.
